Review: I saw this movie with a bid curiosity. It is yummy excessive and exaggerated, as expected from the production of Baz Luhrmann. Leonardo DiCaprio did Gatsby (Track old!) Own while maintaining a sense of familiarity. The script is an adaptation faithful and also helped me to understand some of the more obvious theme in the novel. And although you'd think listening to dubstep in the Age of Jazz will rumble, soundtrack work well. But I could love it. And (mostly) Tobey Maguire fault.Gatsby looming so large in the original story, which is not hard to forget about Nick. But it can be said, and often it is Nick and Gatsby is the protagonist of the novel. Fitgeralds story, told from the nickname of the first-person perspective, is only as good as its nickname history, Gatsby as great as he is seen Nick to way.Unfortunately, Maguire fell completely flat in its role as a narrative guide. There is always so much else going on and so much of Luhrmann's dreamscape to absorb that Maguire seems to be lacking in everything. And? with it? so does the audience. Without a strong presence from Maguire, Nick has been downgraded from a role as an interpreter of events to be just another character (and one that is relatively minor one at that). Luhrmann tried to maintain a narrative frame nickname by letting him talk? first as a patient at the sanatorium to talk to a doctor, then a writer tries to explain grief through prose. But those who came across the scene (at best) as a heavy-handed expository or (worst) as Maguires take keen to put the audiobook version of The Great Gatsby.I island wanted to love this movie. I really do. It has many wonderful features. But without Nick (just Tobey) to help make sense of the people and events, angry, and half in love with {}, and with great regret, I turned away.
